On Sunday, Nov. 13 Cara Meredith spoke at Salt House on the topic of racial reconciliation. During her sermon Cara made five points for action.
1. Talk to God.
2. Own your story.
3. Get educated.
4. Notice the marginalized.
5. Get proximate.
In the midst of her comments about getting educated about racial issues, Cara listed off several books that would be helpful reads. Here is that list:
Embrace: God's Radical Shalom for a Divided World – Leroy Barber
Roadmap to Reconciliation: Moving Communities into Unity, Wholeness and Justice – Rev. Dr. Brenda Salter McNeil
Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption – Bryan Stevenson
The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness – Michelle Alexander
