Good morning, everybody.
I think of Sunday mornings as the typical public offering of any church. Usually, Sunday morning is when you'd expect a church to have worship and, as you may have noticed, we are still here on Sunday morning. We talked about shifting to the evenings...again...because we started with and evening service, but we decided to stay in the mornings for this season. Our decision is based partly on the feedback we got from our community, but also because it's something we haven't really tried yet for a fall program season. So we're intentionally and strategically trying the Sunday morning worship time for the fall. Because we haven't done that yet.
We know that Sunday morning doesn't work for everybody and we understand that as a church we can't meet everybody's needs. We wish we could, but we really can't. The opinions and needs are too disparate. So we have to be intentional about how we position ourselves and move in our community and Sunday morning, we felt, was a great opportunity for us. That is part of why we're staying here in the morning.
Another things Sunday morning being the "typical public offering" is that we have a great desire see Sunday mornings, this time that we share together, this experience of community and worship at Salt House just hum. That Sundays would be something that when we come, we experience a great place to be. Also, when we leave we feel energized and renewed for the day, for the week, and for the season we're in.
Part of what we experience when we when we share in communion, sing these songs together, and hear a great word is the power of God moving in and through us in ways that we can't just do on our own. That's the value of doing it together.
So what makes all this work is having people available to help make Sunday morning happen. Here's a request of you - if you're able to help make Sunday mornings happen, whether it be setting up communion stuff or being part of the music and the arts or helping with the kids, or welcoming folks as they walk though the door, leverage that and let us know how you'd like to be a part of the great things happening at Salt House.
You can fill out a form here and let us know how you'd like to jump in!
