    Concert with Christopher Williams

Join us for a special concert by Christopher Williams at Salt House on Sunday, April 24. It's a free event and we'll gather to hear great songs and stories. Things kick off around 5:30pm and we'll wrap up about 7:00pm.

We'll have snacks and beverages available as well as childcare for the lil' ones (up to age 4). Let us know you're coming via Facebook so we can make sure we're ready!

    CHRISTOPHER WILLIAMS

Hailing from Nashville, but nothing like your typical Nashville songwriter, Christopher Williams is a songwriter, storyteller, and entertainer - offering songs that are honest and confessional, yet never over bearing; and performances that engage audiences with an appealing mix of intense passion and humor.  With “lush guitar work, and sweet soaring vocals,” (Boston Phoenix) punctuated by the percussive vulnerability of a single African djembe hand drum and that stunning baritone voice, Williams continues to be a “hard-touring singer-songwriter and a master at spreading his personal energy out into a live audience.” (Madison Isthmus) Touring nonstop nationally for the last fifteen years at a pace of more than 120 shows a year, Williams has built a faithful following of listeners around the country and is a true independent artist, releasing ten records on his own label. He has toured with Grammy Award winning band Jars of Clay, opening for, as well as playing percussion with the band and has also played with songwriter luminaries Arlo Guthrie, Phil Keaggy, David Wilcox, Patty Larkin and Ellis Paul. With the release of his new CD ‘The City Makes The Man,’ Williams returns to his singer songwriter sound with a stripped down acoustic record reminiscent of his engaging live concerts. With an impressive collection of songs, there comes a certain comfort with the style and vibe of this recording and as Williams has said, 'This record is one that you need to listen to in its entirety from the very first note to the last. In my need to find rest over the last couple years, I had to create that space, and all of these songs came from that quiet. So find 37 minutes to sit and listen and engage with these songs, as I think there is a message that runs throughout that needs to be heard.'

    Advent 3: Celebration

    Advent 3: Celebration // December 13, 2015 // Luke 1:39-56

Mary did not know how this baby she carried would one day cause her heart to be pierced – as he died a horrible death on a cross. Without worry for the heartache that would come, Mary was fully present in her joy, present in the blessing of the moment – and she celebrated. We, too, can make room to embrace the good things of the moment as good – even if heartache may come.

    Ugly Sweater Run

    http://theuglysweaterrun.com/locations/seattle-washington/#.VeUqUosQ7zI

WELCOME TO The Ugly Sweater Run™SEATTLE, WASHINGTON!

This is the OG.  The Original.  The Ugly Sweater Run™ is hitting King County’s Marymoor Park on November 28th at 11:00 am.

    HOW DOES IT WORK?

Rummage up the Ugliest Sweaters you can find and celebrate the Holidays by participating in the best 5k of the year.  Join thousands of runners and walkers from around the nation at a local Ugly Sweater Run near you. If you’ve never run a 5k before, this is a great way to burn some calories before receiving hot chocolate and a choice of Sam Adam’s Winter Lager, Boston Lager, or Angry Orchard Hard Cider.  All you have to do is register online to join in the fun.

The run is approximately 3.1 miles long on city streets and through parks depending on the city. The start line will have huge inflatables, photo stations, and awesome holiday music. Once you’re on the course, you’ll find holiday themed stations at every mile. You can ditch that Gatorade because you’ll be able to replenish those electrolytes at the good ol’ fashioned hot chocolate station on the course.

After you’ve completed your run, join us at the post run festivities.  This holiday 5k has everything your five-year old self would want with a few perks of adulthood. So after the race, take a much-deserved break from the shopping frenzy and celebrate your run with one  Sam Adams beer  and other holiday goodies. Awards for best real mustache, best fake mustache, best beard, worst sweater, best sweater will follow the race.

The Ugly Sweater Run has partnered with Save the Children, a child advocacy nonprofit that gives children a healthy start, the opportunity to learn, and protection from harm in the US and around the world. Make sure to select their registration type when you register, so that together we can help transform children’s lives and the future we all share.

    RACE RULES

Ummm…we recommend wearing an Ugly Sweater and show up ready to party with your friends at the coolest run in the country.

You must bring your ID and be of age to consume adult beverages.

    Haunted Trails at Bastyr University

Haunted Trails at Bastyr University on Saturday, October 17th. Meet at 7:00pm. Cost is $25, and it benefits Bastyr University student study-abroad programs. The trails are only appropriate for older children (under 10 not permitted), but there are carnival games and trick-or-treating for the younger kids. Here's the information: https://www.bastyr.edu/civicrm/event/info?reset=1&id=1689
The theme this year is "A Night at the Movies"
They can sign up by emailing events@salthousechurch.org

Haunted Trails: A Night at the Movies!

This year’s Haunted Trails is inspired by our favorite horror films! IT, the Ring, Sinister, Aliens, Hostel, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and so many more, are reimagined in our woods and grounds.

    • Will you dare to join us in the Haunted Woods, where man-eating spiders lurk, girls climb out of wells, and haunted movies come to life?
    • Hades Labyrinth: Terror haunts the students that have taken to the Hostel for their summer vacation! Classical horrors from devil worshipping socialites and space expeditions on distant planets are sure to keep you on your toes!
    • Cemetery Hill: Hungry? There’s a Texas-style BBQ happening. Just ignore the sounds of the chainsaw…if you can!
    • Circus of Horrors: Clowns. Lots of clowns, under a big top. Is that laughter or screams?
    • Mummy’s Tomb: Mummies are cool. Except when they arise and want to bring you back to the sarcophagus.

Please note: We do not allow children under 8 into these events and we strongly recommend that children under 10 do not attend. This event can be traumatizing to younger ones, which is NOT our intent. We only want to give the adults nightmares!

Cost: $20 in person for all five events; $25 Fast Pass are available online-only. Major credit cards accepted. Tickets available online and at the event starting at 6:30.

For more details, please visit info.
